Far East to Port Harcourt and Onne in West Africa charged on congestion surcharge
The past and continuing operational delays in Port Harcourt and Onne terminals are resulting in considerable additional expenses for the lines maintaining service schedules to those ports .
The undersigned lines are unable to continue subsidising these significant and extraordinary costs, and are therefore introducing a temporary Congestion Surcharge of USD 200/TEU at Port Harcourt and Onne ports. The surcharge will remain in place until the average delay to vessels berthing in the 2 ports ? measured over a two month historical period ? reduces to less than 18 hours.
The Congestion surcharge will be payable by the freight payer. It will be implemented from August 1st 2003, based on B/L dates.
