Pusan port returns to normal
The Pusan Regional Maritime Affairs & Fisheries Office announced on May 18th that cargoes in and out of the port numbered 23,915 from the 17th at 8 o'clock to the 18th at 8 o'clock. The count was above average by 1,738. Inbound cargoes numbered 12,156 while outbound cargoes numbered 11,759.
Backlogged cargoes in the wharf came down 0.6% to 80.1%. Loading and unloading work was busy while standby ships were counted at 36. These numbers were the best since the cargo strike.
However stocked containers in the wharf in the 3rd and 4th quay stood at 127% and 107% capacity, respectively. Such abnormally high backlogs will require more time for full normalization in Pusan port.
