Inchon International Airport starts second project
The second step project of Inchon International Airport got underway when work started on a moorage ground creation at the end November.
The Ministry of Construction & Transportation announced November 15 that Hanjin Heavy Industries was chosen from among the bidders as for the second step consortium project to create an airplane moorage ground. Daewoo Engineering & Construction co., Ltd, Poong-Chang co., Ltd and Dong-Woo co., Ltd, along with Hanjin Heavy Industries will all take part in this consortium.
The Ministry Construction & Transportation secured a 48.5 billion won budget among the total business expenses for next year for this project. Inchon International Airport will supply the remaining construction costs through the induction of foreign capital. At first, the rate of treasury support had intended to raise by 75% in case of second step project by considering Inchon International Airport’s debt, but it was cut down during the budget adjustment.
The second step project of Inchon International Airport will create a ground of 2.50 millions pyoung (1 pyoung is about 3.3. sq. m), a landing strip, a landing village and moorings of 365 thousands pyoung along with some other infrastructure by investing 4.7032 trillion won by 2008.
Once this work has been completed, the number of annual airplane flights will extend to 410 thousand from 240 thousand, the passenger capacity will extend to 44 million persons annually from 30 million persons, and the cargo handling rateto 4.50 million tons from 2.70 million tons.
