International ferry launches in Mokpo and Shanghai next month
The sea route between Mokpo and Shanghai opens November 20.
Mokpo Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries announced October 20 that Dongnam Shipping, headquartered in Busan, would establish the Shanghai Cruise Co. with an investment of 2 billion won, exchange a Letter of Understanding with its counterpart in China and sign on chartering a vessel to launch the trade November 20. The regional agency and Dongnam Shipping are renovating the international terminal.
The shipping company plans to deploy a 12,000-ton car-ferry vessel which can accommodate 86 containers and 412 passengers, sailing twice a week. The trade between Mokpo and Shanghai is 369 miles, taking 24 hours.
