HMM appoints new president, Mr. Noh
On September 4, Hyundai Merchant Marine named Mr. Noh Jeong-Ik, former vice-president of Hyundai Capital Services, as the new president of the company. HMM president and CEO, Jang Cheol-Soon was promoted to vice-chairman.
The new president officially took office on 24th September 2002, after receiving formal shareholder approval.
Mr. Noh has followed career paths in finance and accounting. He joined Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. in 1977 and has been through many posts in the Hyundai Group. Resolving liquidity problems by selling the car-carrier unit off in August 2002, HMM has been in need of dynamic leadership.
In the mean time, Mr. Jang, the new vice-chairman, promised full support to each department based on his accumulated experience and know-how.
