Pyoungtaek ranks fifth in exports
Export cargoes through Pyoungtaek were the fifth largest across the nation, following Pusan, Ulsan, Inchon and Kwangyang.
According to the Kyunggi branch of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), total exports through the Pyoungtaek increased by 172% to post US $4.72 billion compared to the last year’s. The amount secured fifth position in terms of trade volume, where Pusan marked US $60.55 billion, Ulsan US $12.38 billion, Inchon US $7.58 billion and Kwangyang US $5 billion.
Export items have diversified to 1008, presenting a 572% growth rate compared to 150 last year. So have export destinations, from 36 to 127 (253% of growth).
Cars, the largest export item by volume, grew by 379% to US $3.35 billion, and electronic accessories by 8,529% to US $21 million. China imported US $284 million, passing Canada US $275 million in imports. By country, the largest importers of Korean goods are the US and then China.
