HMM takes over 30 percent out of Korean shipping industry sales
Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) accounted for 30.9 percent out of total sales for the whole Korean ocean going shipping industry.
The HMM maritime research center analyzed the data from Korean Shipowner's Association and unveiled that the company marked 5.18 trillion won in sales for the year 2000, an increase of 7 percent from the previous year. This figure represents the lion's share, nearly 31 percent of the total sales amounts from Korean shipping companies.
Hanjin shipping ranked second with 4.26 trillion won and shared 25.4 percent of the totals.
Pan Ocean Line followed with 1.64 trillion won, a 9.8 percent market share. SK shipping and Choyang Line showed 1.41 trillion won (8.4 percent) and 1.06 trillion won (6.3 percent), respectively. Korea Line posted 549 billion won, taking 3.3 percent and Heung-A Line posted 369 trillion won for 2.2 percent. The KMTC (Korea Maritime Transportation Corporation) and Dongnama Line took in 343 billion, or 2 percent, and 248 billion won, or 1.5 percent.
