HMM Going Ahead with 1.65 Million teus This Year

Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) will consolidate container transportatio
n levels at 1.65 million TEUs, upwardly changing its previous plans.
HMM held a container business plan meeting, attended by President Kim
Chung-sik, headquarter officers, and business managers from local bran
ches and abroad. At the meeting they established business reinforcing
plans to achieve their goals. An authority from HMM said that they se
t the plans in detail with new goals to develop niche markets and impr
ove customer services.
To that end, it will open new service trade routes between the Far Eas
t and Australia in the middle of August, and further develop routes in
South and South East Asia, including East India and the Persian Gulf
Area.
HMM also plans to activate the cargo moving business in Russia, which
started last May, to connect the route between Pusan/Bostochini with t
he Trans Siberian Rail (TSR).
Especially, it will provide advanced service to customers through its
'Service Upgrade Committee' by accepting customer suggestions through
their new Internet site, www.talkhmm.com, which opened last May.
