Gyonggi Pyeontaek Port Corporation (CEO Choi Hong-Cheol) announced it saw its largest figure in automobile traffic volume in the first six months of 2012.
The public corporation handled 731,411 cars in the first half of 2012, which beat last year by 19% (614,506 cars) for the same period.
Among the cars, KIA Motors accounted for the largest share at 394,335. The volume for KIA branded cars increased by 16.5% over the same period last year. Hyundai Motor took second place while handling 52,112 cars, increasing 14.7% year-on-year.
Imported automatic cargo volumes at the port increased by 25.6% to 66,340 cars over last year. Brand by brand, BMW vehicles accounted for the largest single portion of the imported volume, recording 18,373 cars, while Mercedes-Benz was far behind at 1,769 cars. Toyota + Lexus, Audi, and Volkswagen.
Mr. Choi said, "I'm pleased to see the highest figure in Pyeontaek Port. We will continue to make every effort to exceed the new record and satisfy our customers' needs."
