[ New Hull Insurance Venture Appoints Director of Claims ]

With its October launch date fast approaching, the new hull insuranc
e syndicate formd by Thomas Miller & Co, Chartwell Managing Agents and
Swiss Reinsurance Company has made its second senior management desig
nation with the appointment of Ann Waite as Director of Claims. Ms Wai
te will join the syndicate later this year.

In her new role, Ms Waite will co-ordinate teams of claims executive
s in the day-to-day handling of claims from across Europe, Asia and th
e Americas to ensure fast and effective problem solving.

Ms Waite joins the hull insurance syndicate with a wealth of expensi
ve in the marine insurance industry, latterly at The Heath Group where
she was employed as a director of Heath Claims Management, with overa
ll responsibility for hull, cargo, liability and P&I claims.

Prior to that, Ms Waite spent nine years at Willis Faber and Dumas i
n London, where she took on a variety of roles including handling clai
ms business from around the world-namely Asia, the Middle East, South
America, Africa, and the Indian Sub-continent. It was during her time
with this company that she qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Insu
rance Institute.

Commenting on her appointment, she says: "I am particularly excited ab
out the prospect of working as part of a team that has such solid mari
time field of insurance will complement this. My direct involement wi
th shipowners combined with my broking, claims-handling and management
experience makes me confident that I can really add something extra t
o this new team. In today's market, it is necessary to provide not onl
