Social meeting with local representatives of domestic shipping companies.

Busan Port Authority (BPA) invited 12 local representatives of domestic shipping companies, including HMM, Hanjin Shipping and Heung-A Shipping, to a social meeting to ask for efforts to revitalize Busan Port on May 27th.

BPA announced in the meeting that the container volume handled at the port during the first quarter of the year increased by 7% from last year, explaining the current increase trends of cargo volumes and future development plans including the North Port Redevelopment Project and New Port?

Distripark construction. BPA also introduced its ?olume Incentive System?and other improved services, expressing its appreciation for the faithful use of the port to the liners. In the meeting, the shipping company representatives asked for BPA to stimulate coastal transportation between Busan and Incheon and to support small and medium size shipping companies.

BPA responded positively saying that it would review the proposals and prepare appropriate measures.
