These vessels will have a service speed of 24 knots and once they are
fully integrated into UASC’s fleet they will provide an unrivalled se

Commenting on this milestone in the expansion of UASC’s container fle

ive office, (who, together with the Board of Directors and the Senior
Management from the company’s head office in Kuwait, was visiting jap
an to attend the inaugural naming ceremony), remarked: “The capital i
nvestment that UASC have made by prdering these new vessels, (and also
through an ongoing program of building new containers), reflect not o
nly the company’s confidence in the overall strength of the shipping
industry but also the firm commitment that has been made in terms of c
ontinuously improving the level of service that we are providing to ou
r customers.
UASC have always recognized that, in a service industry such as shippi
ng, customers requirements are paramount and through the deployment of
this new tonnage UASC will be well placed to meet the increasing dema
nds of the Korea market for direct, regular calls at all major ports c
oupled with through transit times that are second to none.
UASC have a long and successful history in the Korea market and the in
troduction of these modern vessels should further strengthen this rela
tionship as we move into the new millenium.”
Mr Al Mady concluded by stating that during the next few months, as mo
re of the new vessels entered the service, UASC would be conducting a
service of promotional events in Korea so that customers could be full
y appraised of the advantages that would be realised through this impr
oved deployment tonnage.
