HMM Strengthens Service in Eastern Europe
On September 13, Hyundai Merchant Marine established a new dedicated express rail service between Hamburg, Germany and Mlawa, Poland.
Cargoes transported from Asia to Hamburg by ship will be linked to Mlawa through this express rail service.
As a result of this new service, HMM’s transit time from Busan, Korea to Mlawa, Poland been shortened by almost one week—from 36 days to 28 days—so that can reduce customers’ costs. This service also enables HMM to establish an ‘on-time’ transportation system to help its main customers with factories in Poland, to have a more effective production system. Especially it is expected to contribute to the logistics system stabilization of LG Electronics’ factory in Mlawa.
HMM has provided express train service between Rotterdam, Netherlands and Galanta, Slovakia since 2006 and through commencing this new express rail service, it plans to strengthen intermodal services in Eastern Europe, a widely recognized growing market.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
