TNWA offers Asia-US east coast route
The New World Alliance (TNWA) is launching services from Asia to the US east coast via the Suez and Panama Canals.
From July, the Suez Express (SZX) will link south-east Asia and the Indian subcontinent with the US. Eight vessels between 4,000 and 4,500 TEU will sail on a Singapore, Colombo, New York, Charleston, Savannah, Norfolk, Jebel Ali, Port Kelang, Singapore routing.
APL will provide five ships for the service, with three others coming from HMM and MOL. Bob Sappio, APL? senior VP for the transpacific trade, said, ?hile the SZX will offer shippers a complementary alternative to the Panama Canal, Panama remains an integral part of APL's service offering.?
Underlining that point, TNWA and CMA CGM are combining on a new weekly service from next week.
The ESX/SAX service will operate eight vessels between China and the US east coast via the Panama Canal.
The vessels, provided by APL, HMM, MOL and CMA CGM, will range from 3,500 to 3,800 TEU operating on a 56-day rotation between Ningbo, Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Manzanillo, Panama, Savannah, New York, Norfolk, and Ningbo.
