US agricultural shippers rank container carriers

The Agriculture Transportation Coalition (AgOTC), which calls itself ?he voice of U.S. agriculture in ocean transportation policy,?has released summary results of an Ocean Carrier Documentation Performance Survey of timeliness and accuracy of bills of lading.

The group said 21 ocean container lines were rated and that the five leading carriers in alphabetical order, were: APL, Hanjin Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Marine(HMM), K Line and OOCL(Orient Overseas Container Line).

It said it would name the carrier with the highest marks during its annual meeting in San Francisco on June 7-8.

The coalition said the purpose of the survey was ?o recognize those carriers that are serving their agriculture customers well by facilitating shipments through accurate and timely issuance of bills of lading,?and ?ncourage all ocean carriers to recognize the importance of this aspect of their service to agriculture exporters.?
