HYUNDAI COLOMBO (6,800 TEU) is delivered
Hyundai Merchant Marine(HMM) has taken in charge this week-end the HYUNDAI COLOMBO -owned by a Korean shipping fund which leases the ship to HMM. She is the sixth of eight ships of 6,800 TEU ordered in two steps at the Hyundai shipyard. Five ships were ordered in September 2003 by Hyundai under a long term deal with Zodiac Maritime, the UK arm of the Ofer Group. They were followed by a further three ones ordered in May 2004 by Hyundai, with the backing of a Korean shipping fund.
The HYUNDAI COLOMBO is understood to replace the 5,551 teu HYUNDAI LIBERTY who is believed to join the transpacific 'Pacific China Express' (PCX - 2260)
