HMM largest shipping company by gross tonnage
HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine) was recognized as the shipping company owning the most vessels by gross tonnage among domestic shipping companies with overseas services.
According to the Korea Shipowners Association on August 22, HMM ranked first with 2,557,232GT (35 vessels) at the end of last year. This puts HMM ahead of Hanjin Shipping (2,333,300GT with 40 vessels) which is the largest company by sales in Korea.
SK Shipping ranked third with 1,538,451GT and 16 vessels, STX Pan Ocean and Korea Line Corporation ranked forth and fifth, each with 1,485,958GT (48 vessels) and 1,276,492GT (19 vessels), respectively.
