[ Los Angeles, Miami, Washington Finalists For ACF2000 ]
Three American cities have been selected as finalists as the site for
the 20th International Air Cargo Forum and Exposition in the year 2000
-Los Angeles, Miami and Washington,D.C.
Official of The International Air Cargo Forum and Exposition(TIACA), o
wner and coordinator of the biennial event, will announce the selectio
n of the site at the December 4 and 5 annual general meeting in London
.
ACF98 will be held in Paris May 3-7, 1998. The theme of the upcoming e
vent is “Air Cargo 1998: The Key to Global Logistics.” ACF is the pr
emier international event for the air cargo industry.
Other recent sites for ACF have been Iubai, United Arb Emirates, 1996;
Seattle, Washington, 1994; the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, 1992; and N
ew Delhi, India, 1990. The first ACF was held in Atlandta in 1962, und
er the auspices of the Society of Automotive Engineers, from which TIA
CA was born in 1990.
The event has more than doubled in size since ACF92. In 1996 in Dubai,
there were more than 3,200 participants and 261 exhibit spaces booked
.
Guenter Rohrmann, vice president of TIACA and president of Air Express
International(AEI), chairs the association’s Site Selection Committe
e. Members of the committee are James H. Jackson, TIACA treasurer; Wal
ter H. Johnson, Jr., past president of TIACA and chair of the Educatio
n Committee; Henry Oldham, chair of the Operations Committee and presi
dent of Dynamic Analysis, Inc.; Robert Thomson, managing director of c
argo for Air Canada; Arthur L. Weldy, exhibitions director for ACF; an
d C. Brown Wilder, TIACA Security chairman and president of Air Cargo,
Inc.(ACI) and Garth H. Davies, Secretary General.
TIACA, which acts as the catalyst and the voice of the air logistics i
ndustry worldwide, includes as members top executives from major aircr
aft mantfacturers, airlines, airports, suppliers and freight forwarder
s from all parts of the world.
