KIT welcomes first Vietnam service
Korea International Terminal (KIT) in Gwangyang Port held a ceremony on March 8, 2003 in celebration of the maiden voyage of ?Silve Island?sailing between Korea and Vietnam.
KIT said that the new service is jointly provided by Sinokor and Hanjin Shipping three times weekly. The service route calls at Kwangyang every Saturday, following Busan ?HongKong ?Hochiminh City ?Singapore - Malaysia. Transit times are six days from Gwangyang to Hochiminh, is shorter than previous ways between Gwangyang and Vietnam. Hanjin will also use Gwangyang as a hub for US bound cargoes.
Mr. Paul Ho, president of KIT said, ?I am very glad to launch this Korea - Vietnam service. I think it will help KIT to develop as main hub port in Northeast Asia.?
