P&O Ports rejoins the TT Club on a global basis
The TT Club has secured a long-term agreement with P&O Australia Ltd to provide a global liability insurance programme for its P&O Ports division, effective 1st October 2000. This agreement includes all P&O Ports' owned and managed ports and terminals worldwide including those in Australia, New Zealand, China, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Italy, Belgium, South Africa, Papua New Guinea, Mozambique, the Philippines, India, the UK (Tilbury and Southampton), the United States and Argentina, as well as P&O's Cold Logistics operations in Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and the United States.
P&O Ports has been steadily expanding its international operations over the past five years. Its participation in the US market has grown in recent months with the acquisition of Gulf Services and Fairway and, most recently, in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey where, in partnership with P&O Nedlloyd, it has awarded a new 30-year lease on Port Newark Container Terminal.
Frank Rufle, Group Risk Manager, P&O Australia, commented:
"We selected the TT Club as our partner because of its expertise and long-term commitment to our business sector. Furthermore, the TT Club's worldwide network of offices means that claims can be dealt with locally without constantly needing to be referred to a head office on the other side of the world. From a risk management perspective, the Club's electronic claims system, Claims TracTM , means that we are able to monitor our claims and simultaneously see the bigger picture; it is a powerful enabling business tool."
Barton Phillips, Manager of the TT Club's Sydney office said:
"We are extremely pleased to welcome P&O Australia back to the TT Club after a five year absence. P&O's return to the Club has, I believe, been a reflection of all the help that the TT Club given the company in refining its insurance needs in the Middle East and India.
"The Club has also been able to demonstrate its capacity to deliver the speed and quality of service that is required in the modern business age and I think that these developments have helped win back this business. I look forward to working with P&O in developing claims manuals and other tools such as Claims TracTM in order to ensure that we meet its needs in an efficient and cost-effective manner."
