Long standing director Asia retires
After 38 years in our group Remi Speld is to retire from his post as P&O Nedlloyd Managing Director Asia from the end of May.
Remi Speld joined the Royal Nedlloyd Group in the Netherlands in 1963 and he has spent 30 of his 38 years with the company overseas with postings in Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, New Zealand and Singapore. He has been in his current post in Hong Kong since the merger of P&O Containers and Nedlloyd Lines in January 1997.
Married with one daughter, he includes among his hobbies golf, bridge and skiing. When he leaves his current position at the end of May, he will continue to work in the industry as a consultant.
Commenting on his departure from P&O Nedlloyd, Group Managing Director Robert Woods said:
"Remi has seen this company grow and evolve over many years. His contribution to that process has been invaluable. I know that his many friends and colleagues will be delighted that he intends to maintain his links with the industry in the coming years."
He will be succeeded in Hong Kong by Hans Meurs, currently P&O Nedlloyd's Region Director Australia and New Zealand. Hans, who has been in the shipping industry since 1977, was previously in Hong Kong from 1985 to 1988 as General Manager of Asia Australia Express.
