Hyun Jung-eun, Hyundai group’s president, attended a recent vessel naming ceremony.
President Hyun attended the naming ceremony in Geoje Island at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. Mr. Hyun named the 13,100-TEU mega container the ‘Hyundai dream’.
President Ko Jae-ho of DSME and HMM President Yoo chang-geun also attended the naming ceremony
President Hyun said, “Welcoming the 'Hyundai Dream' naming ceremony, we have a new dream. Now the shipping business is in difficult times, but the Hyundai Group and HMM are starting again.”
The <Hyundai Dream> is the biggest vessel owned by a Korean shipping company. The new vessel is 365.5 meters in length and 48.4 meters wide.
This year HMM is taking delivery of five 13,100-TEU vessels, leaving HMM with a total of 10 mega containerships.
HMM will deploy the new container ship into the Asia-Europe G6 service. The service name is “Route 5”. The rotation is Pusan - Shanghai - Ningbo - Yantian - Sekou - Singapore - Suez Canal - Rotterdam - Hamburg - South Hampton - Suez Canal - Singapore - Gwangyang. < 이명지 기자 mjlee@ksg.co.kr >
