HMM recognized with ‘Carbon Management Award’

On November 4th, HMM was recognized with the ‘Carbon Management Award’ by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) of Korea. This year’s award is the third consecutive for HMM, a first for a Korean maritime company.

To select the winner, CDP Korea evaluated green activities, like the reduction of CO2, of approximately 250 listed companies, selecting those demonstrating excellent performance.

An HMM spokesman remarked, “HMM contributes to saving the environment through a variety of green activities, which also helps to increase profitability.”

Thus far in 2013, HMM has converted the bulbous bows of four 8,600 TEU containerships to make them fit for low-speed sailing, leading to a 5% reduction in fuel costs.
