Interasia Lines held the naming ceremony for our new 7,000 TEU containership, “Interasia Ambition,” on June 18 at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
The ceremony was jointly hosted by Mr. Jeff Lo, Executive Vice President of Interasia Lines, and Mr. Zhang Wei, Vice President of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Ms. Tammy Chan, Deputy Vice President of Interasia Lines, was invited to serve as the vessel’s sponsor. During the ceremony, she extended her best wishes for safe voyages and prosperous operations. The event was attended by distinguished guests and concluded successfully.
“Interasia Ambition” is the largest containership ordered by Interasia since our establishment. The vessel measures 272 meters in length, 42.8 meters in breadth, and has a maximum draft of 15 meters. Designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), the vessel is designed to meet both operational and environmental requirements.
In terms of energy efficiency and environmental performance, the vessel is equipped with a new high-efficiency main engine and integrates multiple energy-saving and emission-reduction designs, including a windshield design and stern energy-saving devices, to help reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The vessel is also fitted with an open-loop scrubber, supporting compliance with current international maritime environmental regulations and reflecting our commitment to balancing operational efficiency with environmental sustainability.
Upon delivery in June 2026, “Interasia Ambition” will be deployed on our ICI Service, connecting Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Port Klang, and major Indian ports, further strengthening our network and market coverage between China and India.
In recent years, we have continued to expand our fleet and enhance our carrying capacity. Over the past three years, our owned fleet has grown from 15 vessels to 22 vessels. In addition to “Interasia Ambition,” six more newbuilding ships are scheduled for delivery in the coming years.
With the continued renewal and expansion of our fleet, Interasia aims to further strengthen network coverage, improve operational flexibility, and enhance schedule reliability, enabling us to provide customers with more efficient and dependable shipping services.
