BPA, visit to Taiwan liners
As the throughput at Busan Port continues to break records, Busan Port Authority (BPA) visited Taiwan shipping companies to expand its trade volume.
BPA announced that it visited Evergreen Lines for 3 days from July 5, Wan Hai Lines, Yang Ming Lines and TS Lines and asked them to use Busan Port.
Evergreen Lines, the 5th largest shipping company in the world, which has 240 service lines covering about 80 countries across the world, regularly calls at New Gamman Terminal of Busan Port, showing an 11% increase of its trade volume this year. Roh, Ki-tae, BPA president, expressed his gratitude to the president of Evergreen and shared opinions on transportation of transshipment cargoes between Busan North Port and Busan New Port.
On the following day, July 6, Mr. Roh visited Wan Hai Lines to thank the company for its new additional services to Busan Port and asked for continuous expansion of transshipment cargoes. His visit was extended to Yang Ming Lines and TS Lines on the same day.
An official at BPA said that BPA had visited 22 liners across the world last year and would visit 30 major liners this year to share opinions, asking them to expand their cargoes at Busan Port.
