Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. (Yang Ming) is scheduled to start a regular weekly Far East/Australia shipping route, named China-Korea-Australia (CKA) Service, in early May 2010.
This new route is to be jointly operated by Yang Ming, Hanjin Shipping (Hanjin), STX Pan Ocean (STX) and Sinotrans Container Lines (Sinotrans). They will deploy five 4,200 TEU containerships for the 35-day round trip. Yang Ming will contribute one vessel, together with two from Hanjin and one each from STX and Sinotrans.
The ships will sail from Pusan to Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Kaohsiung, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and then back to Pusan. The new service will enable Yang Ming to meet customer demands for the trade route.
