DSME, launching of drillship and PCTC

On the 10th of November, DSME launched a drillship and a PCTC. The launching took place at No. 2 Dock during the 140th batch.

The first vessel, drillship H.5903, is the first of 4 drillships on order from U.S. based Transocean Inc., the world’s largest offshore drilling contractor, and was launched with a progress rate of 69.2%. This project holds special significance in that the drillship is the very first of its kind to be built at DSME.

The second vessel that was launched on the same day was H.4446, an 8,000 unit PCTC, ordered by Wallenius. H.4446 was launched with an achieved progress rate of 89.7%, higher than that of the previously launched Wallenius’ 8,000 unit PCTC.

This achievement is due to the collaboration of the relevant DSME teams, who had hoped to build the ship with the highest quality.
