Odense Steel delivers EBBA MAERSK

On Monday May 21st, 2007, Odense Steel Shipyard presented its latest new ship, an 11,000 TEU container vessel, for the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.

Mrs. Gunilla Nyman, accompanied by her husband, Mr. Anders Dahlvig, CEO & President of the IKEA Group, honored A.P. Moller - Maersk and the yard by naming the new ship the EBBA MAERSK.

Like her four predecessors, the EBBA MAERSK will be one in an elite line of the world? largest container vessels, and like her sister vessels she will set new standards for safety and the environment. Environmentally friendly silicone paint covers her hull below the waterline - reducing water resistance and cutting the vessel? fuel consumption by 1,200 tonnes per year.

With her 14-cylinder Wartsila RT-flex diesel engine roaring with a massive 110,000 BHP, the EBBA MAERSK will enter Maersk Line? worldwide service and together with the other vessels contribute to being part of a global, competitive and flexible transport service for the company? customers.

The EBBA MAERSK will be registered in Copenhagen and will be commanded by Captain Sverri Asmund Kjærbæk with Peter Planch JΦrgensen as Chief Engineer.
