Korean Air Cargo to fly to Chengdu
Korean Air Cargo has started regular freighter service to Chengdu in on Mar 6. Korean Air Cargo adjusted the schedule of its existing Incheon~Delhi~Brussels~Incheon route to call at Chengdu on both way. In addition to Incheon~Chengdu route, Korean Air Cargo will provide air cargo service on Chengdu~ Delhi route and Chengdu-Brussels route directly.
Chengdu is located in southwest China, is the capital of the Sichuan province and a sub-provincial city. Chengdu is also one of the most important economic centers as well as transportation hubs in . Chengdu is home to several key industries in and Chengdu ’s Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone has attracted a variety of multinationals.
In 2000, government adopted China Western Development which is a policy to boost its underdeveloped western regions. The main components of the strategy include the development of infrastructure such as transport, hydropower plants, energy, and telecommunications, enticement of foreign investment, increased efforts on ecological protection, promotion of education, and retention of talent flowing to richer provinces. As a result, trade volume from Chengdu has been increased more than 30% annually. The main export/import items are IT, textiles, raw materials and equipments.
As Korean Air Cargo will start freighter service to Chengdu, cargo transport service between Western China and Europe/Asia will be improved more. Korean Air Cargo will operate two freighter flights weekly on this route every Tuesday and Friday.
