Busan Port saw the biggest increase of container cargo in November

In Nov.2006, the port of Busan saw the biggest increase of container volume in this year.

According to Busan Port Authority(BPA), Busan Port handled 1,051,354 TEU of containers in Nov 2006, 6.7% increase from the same period of last year.

BPA added that out of the container cargo handled last month, export and import cargo was 294,645 TEU and 297,676 TEU respectively, up 6.3% and 1.5% comparing to the same period of last year. In particular, transshipment cargo was 458,237 TEU, up 12.2%.

From April to September this year, transshipment cargo showed negative growth consecutively, however, in November, the transshipment cargo showed double digit increase.

This increase was resulted by Maersk Line's changed three services from Gwangyang Port to Busan Port and a new service to Busan Port.

The container cargo handled at Busan Port from January to November in this year was 11,012,816 TEU, up 1.3% from an year earlier.
