Maersk Line starts a new service calling at Gwangyang Port
The Maersk Line service connecting Asia and Central South America will help port cargoes to increase by calling at Gwangyang Port.
According to KCTA (Korea Container Terminal Authority), Maersk Line started a new service between Asia and Central South America calling at Gwangyang Port on April 19.
This service calls at Gwangyang Port weekly with nine 2,500~3,500 TEU container vessels, and will handle over 50,000 TEU yearly.
The calling route is Gwangyang - Ensenada - Buena Ventura - Callao - Iquiqe - San Antonio - Lirquen - Lazaro - Kadenas - Yokohama - Hong Kong - Shekou - Ningbo - Shanghai - Gwangyang.
The first service vessel, the ?edlloyd Marita? handled 1,600 TEU calling at Gwangyang Port on April 19.
An insider at KCTA said, ?his new service will diversify routes for Gwangyang Port.?Meanwhile, Maersk Line has called at Gwangyang Port for its Caribbean Sea service connecting Asia - Panama Canal - Jamaica - Colombia since March 10.
