Wharf operators chosen for Pusan New Port

BPA (Busan Port Authority) held a contract ceremony for wharf operations with Hanjin Shipping which was selected in the second step as the first operator of Pusan New Port at its office building in Jungang-dong, Pusan on April 26.

In the second step, the first wharf that Hanjin Shipping would operate has four berths. BPA is constructing the wharf in the north of the container wharf located in the front of Mt. Yokmang in Jinhae. The construction will be completed at the end of 2008.

BPA selected Hanjin Shipping as an operator for the wharf of Pusan New Port and HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine) as an operator for the second of five bidding companies on March 31.

BPA expects Pusan New Port to develop in the beginning thanks to planned opening preparations by choosing wharf operators for Pusan New Port early. Meanwhile, BPA held another contract ceremony for wharf operation of the second wharf of Pusan New Port with HMM on April 28.
