8,500 TEU vessel calls at Pusan
The first 8,500 TEU mega container ship called at Pusan Port since the opening of the port.
The Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on November 15 that the 8,500 TEU ship would call at Gamman wharf at the port.
The vessel is named the ?SCL Asia? and is a new ship for China Shipping. This is the second calling of an 8,000 TEU class vessel. Pusan Port has been already called at by the 8,200 TEU class ?UGO?of CMA CGM in August of this year.
The route of ?SCL Asia?is Shanghai-Shenzen-Hong Kong-Pusan-L.A. operating between Asia and the U.S. China Shipping is changing vessels from five 5,500 TEU to 8,500 TEU class vessels in its main service between Asia and the U.S.
An official from BPA said, ?ecause of this calling of ?SCL Asia? the same class mega container ships may additionally call at the Port,?and, ?his may lead to further transshipment cargoes from Chinese Ports.
