Kwang-yang accident free in 2003

Kwang-Yang Port remained accident free when processing various dangerous cargoes last year. Yeosu Regional Maritime & Fisheries Office announced that the port actively prevented mishaps through careful inspections.
The CIP (Container Inspection Program) calls for checking containers with dangerous cargo according to the IMDG Code (International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code) and taking precautions to prevent loss of life and property.
The office inspected about 3.5% of imported containers with dangerous cargo last year, or 194 TEU of 5,456 TEU. Of the 194TEU, 69TEU were singled out due to their poor condition.
Yeosu Regional Maritime & Fisheries Office hopes that Kwang-Yang Port will build its reputation as a safe port by strengthening container inspections this year.
