In a statement MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. welcomed Antwerp Port's support for its terminal operations, which are undertaken by a joint venture between Terminal Investment Limited "TIL"and PSA, to be relocated from the Delwaide Dock to the Deurganck Dock.
The relocation to the Deurganck Dock will enable post 14,000 TEU ships to be included in MSC's Antwerp services in the future. The additional approximate 4M TEU capacity at the new terminal configuration will also enable MSC to grow its Antwerp volumes which have in recent years been constrained by the Delwaide terminal capacity. The Deurganck Dock terminal, which will be called MSC PSA European Terminal (MPET), will also continue to service other lines with Antwerp services as well as other MSC partners including the potential P3 network in the future.
Mr Diego Aponte commented, "We as MSC have a very long history in the port of Antwerp and we are very happy that the port continues to support our plans for further growth." < Korea Shipping Gazette >
