SITC launched a new Korea-Vietnam direct trade service from July 27.
The Shanghai-based carrier noticed the service will secure a stable supply of export cars made by GM Korea into Thailand. Also, the new offer could be a turning point to increase in traffic volume between Korea and Thailand. SITC expects that cargo traffic will exceed 31,000 TEU per year through the service.
The service, named 'CTV', is calling at Incheon - Shanghai - Ningbo - Shekou - Ho Chi Minh - Haiphong - Bangkok - Laem Chabang - Fangcheng - Nansha - Hong Kong - Shekou - Incheon. 13,000 tonnes of of capacity with the "Mactam Bridge" has been deployed into the route.
As a notable point, the CTV is the first direct service between Incheon and Fangcheng, Nansha since 1883 when Incheon Port opened. Shippers had no choice except to use overland trucking or calling into offshore Chinese ports when they sent their shipments to Fangcheng or Nansha until the service opened. As a result, the service will attract shippers looking to reduce shipping times and costs.
A representative from the Incheon Port Authority (IPA President Kim Chun-Seon) said, "We're giving full support to the service to boost its early vitalization with PR to shippers who trade with South China, Thailand, and Vietnam." < 김보람 기자 brkim@ksg.co.kr >
