Ulsan Port incoming ships ranked second
In 2005, the number of ships sailing to Ulsan Port ranked second among the 28 ports in Korea.
According to Ulsan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, ships through the port last year numbered 25,278.
The average vessel weight was 6,421 tonnes, up 337 tonnes compared to 2004, another solid indicator of the trend towards larger capacity ships.
A source at Ulsan MOMAF said, "The number of ships through Ulsan port increased in 2005. This was because of increases in automobile, chemical and oil products,"and he added, "we plan to promote Ulsan Port to become Northeast Asia? largest trade port. For this, we are constructing a new port.?
