Jasungdae terminal gets back on track Dec. 9
5 gantry cranes derailed and collapsed by Typhoon Maemi on Jasungdae terminal, would fully operate from Dec. 9. The New Gamman terminal will also operate 3 out of 6 broken down gantry cranes by the end of this year, hoping to handle 60% of normal cargoes.
After finishing installation and trial operation for 3 gantry cranes carried from Hyundai Heavy Industry last November, Jasungdae terminal will hold a ceremony to announce its complete recovery from the typhoon damage Dec. 9.
Jasungdae is improving its loading efficiencies by adding one more crane than before and equipping new 20 row cranes compared with the old 16 row ones. Jansungdae terminal fixed 3 derailed cranes at the end of October.
New Gamman Terminal is operating a 22-row gantry crane from Nov. 9 and another is under trial operation from Nov. 5. The latter is scheduled to be placed in full operation between Dec. 15 and 20. Given the situation, New Gamman Terminal with undamaged gantry cranes should recover its stevedoring ability to 60% pre-typhoon levels, and operate one berth for a 50,000-ton vessel. New Gamman Terminal handled 20,000 TEU of cargoes, receiving 21 vessels weekly prior to the typhoon. The terminal is scheduled to install two gantry cranes by the end of next February and one more crane by next March 20, making it fully recovered from the typhoon damage.
