Maritime budget 2.67 trillion won next year
Korean government is scheduling a 2.67 trillion won 2003 maritime budget to the National Congress on October 2.
The new budget is a 3.2% increase over the 2002 budget. Major project costs in the budget will take 2.44 trillion won, an increase of 2.5% over 2002. part of that, port construction costs will receive a 7.7% boost to 1.23 trillion won. Construction projects at seven ports, including Pusan New Port and Kwangyang Port, will soak up the lion’s share of the budget at 57.1% of all port construction costs. Total investment in ports, including port facility maintenance and repair, will amount to1.42 trillion won, an increase of 8.9% over 2002.
