Domestic airliners raise airfreight rate to US by 7%
The Ministry of Construction and Transportation announced Aug. 16 that Korean Air and Asiana Air will raise airfreight rates to the US by 7 percent from September 16.
For general cargoes above one thousand kg, airfreight rates to L.A., Chicago and N.Y. will be affected.
The airliners explained that although the amount of cargo transportation has improved in the first half of this year, there has been an imbalance between incoming and outgoing cargoes at American line because of lower unit costs than in other countries such as Japan and China, and an imbalance of cargo loading between Korea and the U.S.
