Hanjin Shipping Offers Stevedoring and Terminal Services to Sinotrans

Hanjin Shipping has agreed to offer stevedoring and terminal services to Chinese carrier, Sinotrans Container Lines Co., Ltd.
Sinotrans?new China-America (CAX) route will utilize Hanjin? services at Long Beach, Oakland and Busan-Gamcheon, three of Hanjin? nine container terminals. The CAX fleet consists of five 2500 TEU class vessels and its schedule is as follows: Huangpo - Hong Kong - Chiwan - Shanghai - Busan -Long Beach - Oakland - Huangpo. Hanjin? terminal services began on July 1, 2002 and will end June 30, 2005 and it is estimated that Hanjin will handle roughly 250,000 TEU annually for Sinotrans at the three terminals.
Through the use of Hanjin? exceptional logistics services, Sinotrans will improve its competitiveness along its new transpacific service while Hanjin is able to bring in additional revenue by attracting other carriers as customers, thereby creating a win-win situation for both carriers. This can certainly be considered a turning point as it marks the beginning of a new and improved terminal logistics business as well as the creation of a new profit source for carriers.

Presently, Hanjin Shipping operates a total of nine container terminals, located strategically in Seattle, Long Beach, Oakland, Busan-Gamcheon, Busan-Gamman, Gwangyang, Osaka, Tokyo and Khaosiung. Hanjin? new Long Beach Terminal is presently undergoing construction and will be ready in August 2002. At 365-acres, it will be the second largest terminal in North America and offer ultramodern equipment and system operations.
Hanjin Shipping operates 123 vessels along 54 global service routes, and with its German subsidiary company, Senator Lines, handles a yearly volume of over 3 million TEU, ranking Hanjin number four in global liner shipping.
