TSR presentation will be held on Feb. 12 -13

On February 12 -13 a Presentation "The Transsiberian Land Bridge in the 21st Century. Prospects for the Development of Russian - Korean relations in the field of railway transportation" is held.

The Minister of Railway Transport of the Russian Federation together with the International Coordinating Council on Transsiberian transportation supported by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation of the Republic of Korea have arranged a Presentation of the Transsiberian Railway on February 12-13, 2001 in Seoul, at Seoul Plaza Hotel.

The Russian delegation at the Presentation is headed by Mr. Alexander V. Tsel'ko, First Vice-Minister, Ministry of Railway Transport of the Russian Federation.

The objective of the Presentation is to familiarize Korean cargo owners, operators and forwarders with the Modern technical standard and up-to-date Transsiberian Service to promote bringing cargo to the Trans-Korean Railway and to TSR after this route will be put into operation. According to the Ministry of Railway Transport of the Russian Federation of the Russian Federation the Transsiberian Railway of to-day is technologically a high standard Mainline capable of transporting cargo and passenger strictly to fixed times schedule and at a guaranteed high level of service over a distance of more than 10,000 kilometers.

Attracting cargo from deep sea routes to the railway, according to expers is economically justified with regard to Russia, the Republic of Korea and to the Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea as well as to other countries of the Asian and Pacific region, as it would result in saving substantial financial resources.

Meeting with representatives of industrial, trading as well as forwarding companies will take place during the Presentation.

The forthcoming visit of Mr. Vladimir V. Putin, president of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Korea the Meeting of the leaders of the two countries, will be an important landmark for in implementing the undertakings with regard to restoring the Trans-Korean Railroad and linking it up with the Transsiberian Railway. During that visit fundamental political decisions are expected be taken related to materializing that Project.

That visit is to be followed up by a meeting of the Minister of Railway Transport of the Russian Federation, the Minister of Construction and Transportation of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Railways of the People's Republic of Korea.
