Top Ten International Shipping Agencies Captured 35.9% of Total Revenue Income
International shipping agencies marked a double digit increase in reve
nue earnings during the first 3 months.
The International Shipping Agencies Association of Korea reported that
312 international shipping agencies' income increased to $31,631,255,
up 13.9 percent over the same period of last year. Average commission
income rose 12.4 percent to $101,382 per agency. The top ten internai
onal shipping agencies in commission income captured 35.9 percent shar
e of the total ($11,348,047). Numbers 11 to 20 in rank captured 16.1 p
ercent, and 21 to 50 captured 23.6 percent. This number indicated tha
t the bias in revenue income is on the increase year on year.
Thus, the top ten internaional shipping agencies' share of total reven
ue rose by 5 percent over last year.
Meanwhile, Maersk Korea grabbed the number one position in revenue inc
ome, earning $2,320,052 in the first quarter of this year.
It is thought that revenue increases due to the merger with Sea-land,
an American Shipping carrier, assisted in this. Although Woosung shi
pping ,last year's number 1 agency, took the second place, it earned $
1,805,790, showing a dramatic increase. Hanyang Shipping, Evergreen's
Korean agency, took the third place.
