Cargo Increase Wavered in the Korea/North America Trade in April
Export container cargoes for North America wavered in April. According
to related industries, container cargoes fell by 5.5 percent, 44,948
teus less than last month. It seems that activity is declining. In th
e month of April, Hanjin Shipping carried 9,352 teus, 20.81 percent of
the total and Hyundai merchant marine carried 6,928 teus, occupying 1
5.41 percent. Choyang Line recorded 2,567 teus, a 5.71 percent share.
In foreign lines, Maersk-Sealand, Danish lines, handled 4,032 teus, 8.
97 percent of the total and Zim, Israli Lines , captured an 8.33 perc
ent share, 3,746 teus. APL and Yangming handled 3,583 teus and 2,066 t
eus, respectively and held 7.97 percent and 4.60 percent shares.
In regional results, local cargos were 13,450 teus, IPI cargo 9,097 te
us and MLB was 1,936 teus in the PSW (Pacific South West), representi
ng a declining trend compared to last month. Local cargos were 1,220
teus, IPI cargo 3,158 teus and MLB was 1,475 teus in the PNW (Pacific
North West), representing an increasing tendency over last month.
