Hanjin Shipping Signs 25-Year LNG Deal with Korea Gas Corporation

Hanjin Shipping Ltd. on Saturday signed a 25-year contract of affrei
ghment(COA) with KOGAS(Korea Gas Corporation) to carry over 700,000 to
ns of LNG from Oman to Inchon and Pyongtaek.
Over 30 guests including Hanjin Shipping president Cho Sooho and Ha
n Kap-soo, president of KOGAS were present for the ceremony.
“The contract bears great significance in that it marks the first t
ime for Hanjin Shipping to enter the Oman market,”said the Hanjin spo
kesman.
Ordered just over two years ago and inaugurated in June this year at
the Hanjin Heavy Industries shipyard, the Hanjin Muscat is the sevent
h of seventeen LNG carriers ordered by KOGAS to be used for importing
LNG from Oman to Korea beginning August 10th, 1999.
The remaining 13th and 15th LNG carriers in 1995 with the Hanjin Pyo
ngteak, which current services the Indonesia-Korea route and carries o
ver 110 million tons of LNG per year.
Features of Hanjin Muscat are Length 280 meters, Breadth 43 meters,
Depth 26.2 meters, Deadweight 75,463 tons, Service speed 20.3 knots, E
ngine 38,900 SHP.
