[ Minister Kim Sun-kil to Resign After Amending Pact ]

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Mr. Kim Sun-kil annnounced
last week he will resign upon successfully amending the controversial
Korea-Japan fisheries pact.
In a press conference, Minister Kim said he will deal with weakness in
the agreement as soon as possible and try to secure the amendment.
But some clarification is needed as far as what the fisheries deal con
tains, he said, hihting that journalists have exaggerated to some exte
nt the ministry’s errors.
Mention of the ships known as”double pullers,” for example, was not
entirely absent from the pact as was rumored, Kim said.
