[ Conterm announces CFS changes in Gulf ]
On July 6, Conterm Consolidation Services(U.S.A.) Inc. changed its CFS
(container freight stations) in Houston, Dallas and New Orleans. At th
e same time Conterm added Tulsa in Oakland to its list of CFS faciliti
es. For these four locations, Conterm utilizes Forward Air’s faciliti
es. “Forward Air is a good fit for Conterm since they are neutral and
handle the same account base as we do, the freight forwarding communi
ty. We currently work with them in Atlanta and San Fransiscp and we ar
e very pleased with the work that they have done for us in these areas
.” stated Steve Taub, vice president of western region for Conterm Co
nsolidation Services(U.S.A.) Inc.. “This change offers several distin
ct advantages to our customers. In Houston, our sales office is on-sit
e, allowing us to handle better everyday operations and special reques
ts. The facility is located in the designated at the area in Houston F
oreign Trade Zone, which gives us greater flexibility in moving import
freight. From an operations perspective, the move to the Houston faci
lity is expected to improve CFS trucking capabilities for Conterm with
overnight service from many of their outlying depots in Houston.” ad
ded Taub.
The new CFSs in Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Tulsa are also equipp
ed with the mordernized labeling system for booking destination and ma
nage information to streamline hadling of consolidated shipments.
