BPA, making every effort to expand cargo volume and port infrastructure
BPA decided to do its best to increase its cargo volume to 14.21 million TEU this year, 7 % increase from last year.
To that end, BPA is going to implement the New Port and its Distri-park construction and foreign port developments as scheduled, seeking ways to vitalize the Busan Port in conjunction with new government?Seoul-Busan Cannel Construction.
BPA said that 2008 business plans and budget containing the roadmap was decided on January 24 at the 41st Port Committee.
According to 2008 major business plans, the target cargo volume of the Busan Port in 2008 stands at 14.21 million TEU this year, 7% increase from last year.
Especially, BPA will initiate the North Port Redevelopment Project in earnest from this year by investing 52.3 billion won along with the dredging work to accommodate over 10,000TEU-class vessels by investing 13.5 billion won.
And other ways to vitalize the Busan Port such as utilizing the opportunities in connection with the possible Seoul-Busan Cannel Construction and strengthening cooperation with domestic logistics companies to advance into foreign markets were overviewed. <Korea Shipping Gazette>
