Incheon repurposes coal yard facilities as CY
A coal yard for the coal wharf located in South Incheon Port will be repurposed as a container yard (CY).
Incheon Port Authority (IPA) announced on August 25 that it will repair coal yard facilities in a coal wharf in the south port to improve operational efficiency of the wharf, with some of it being repurposed for use as a CY.
IPA is planning to build the CY with 2 billion won after repairing protective dust nets and a waterway. The construction will improve usage and operational efficiency of the coal yard in the coal wharf.
IPA will decide on an operation plan after signing an agreement with companies in September of this year, and finish construction by the end of next year after completing a detailed plan in the second half of this year.
IPA expects that the new CY will improve operation of the container wharf of South Incheon Port because it is about 78,000 square meters (23,600 pyoung), and can handle 5,000 TEU at a time.
