Dongnama Shipping in the black and expanding
Dongnama Shipping is in the black with 424.6 billion won in sales and 3.1 billion won in net profit last year. In spite of bad management conditions, the company coped with difficulties by exchanging old vessels and withdrawing from services that operated at a deficit.
President, Lee Seung Hyun, said in an address, "From skyrocketing ship chartering rates, increasing oil prices and delaying rates restorations, through all that we are continuing a practical operations strategy and showing a 14.4% sales expansion rate and 6 years in the black," and added, "We will save on costs by changing old vessels, reshuffling ship space with partners to become a more global shipping company, and increase gains by concentrating on new service openings, and strengthening our overseas organization," at the 20th general stockholders meeting, March 26.
Meanwhile, the company will directly operate its Tokyo and Osaka branches in Japan and established branches in Simcheon, China, and Mumbai, India this year after establishing a corporation in Malaysia in December last year.
